Minimalist French Landscapes and Seascapes in Limited Editions
Gerald Berghammer’s photographs of France explore the varied landscapes and coastlines of Normandy, the French Atlantic coast and the French countryside through a restrained contemporary visual language. Dramatic cliffs, expansive beaches, lavender fields, fishing huts and coastal landmarks become defining elements within compositions shaped by negative space, natural light and carefully controlled perspective.
The black-and-white photographs emphasise structure, contrast and atmosphere, while the colour works retain the subdued blues, greens and natural tones of the French coast and countryside. Together, the photographs present a minimalist interpretation of France centred on stillness, balance and the relationship between landscape, architecture, sea and sky.
