SWIMMING AREA, STUDY 2 – AUSTRIA | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Swimming Area, Study 2 is a minimalist digital black-and-white long-exposure fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing a weathered wooden swimming area extending across the calm waters of Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedler See) in Burgenland, Austria. Evenly spaced wooden posts and geometric structures create a precise linear rhythm beneath an expansive, cloud-filled sky, transforming the lakeside landscape into an atmospheric waterscape defined by stillness, balance and timeless simplicity.Created using long-exposure photography, the image transforms the shallow lake into a smooth, luminous surface while softening the movement of the clouds. The striking contrast between the solid geometry of the weathered wooden structures and the ethereal atmosphere of the surrounding water and sky creates a compelling interplay of form, texture and light. Subtle reflections, refined monochrome tonal transitions and generous negative space emphasise the minimalist composition, giving this Austrian lake landscape an almost abstract, contemplative character.
Combining minimalist fine art photography with the quiet beauty of Lake Neusiedl, this black-and-white waterscape evokes solitude, tranquillity and understated elegance. Its balanced horizontal composition and timeless monochrome aesthetic make it particularly suitable for contemporary, minimalist, Scandinavian and modern interiors, including living rooms, bedrooms, offices, boutique hotels, galleries and refined architectural spaces. As a limited-edition fine art photograph, Swimming Area, Study 2 offers collectors of black-and-white landscape photography a distinctive interpretation of Austria’s lakeside scenery.
