Minimalist Scandinavian Landscapes in Limited Editions
Gerald Berghammer’s Scandinavian and Nordic photographs explore the dramatic landscapes of Norway, Sweden and the Faroe Islands through a restrained contemporary visual language. Rugged coastlines, remote islands, sculptural rock formations, mountains, forests and expanses of water become defining elements within compositions shaped by negative space, natural light and atmospheric weather.
The black-and-white photographs emphasise structure, contrast and sculptural form, while the colour works retain the subdued blues, greens and natural tones characteristic of Northern Europe. Together, the photographs present a minimalist interpretation of Scandinavia and the wider Nordic region, centred on stillness, balance and the relationship between land, sea and sky.
