AUGUSTE – SERIAL UNIQUE BRONZE SCULPTURE | NANDO KALLWEIT
Auguste (2020) is a serial unique figurative bronze sculpture by German artist Nando Kallweit. Measuring 10 × 9 × 7 cm, the work depicts a seated figure with bent legs, elongated arms and an upright, slender torso. The simplified head and faceted contours reduce the human form to a compact composition of line, volume and gesture.The dark patina accentuates the angular modelling of the bronze, while the open spaces between the arms and legs give the figure a sense of lightness despite its solid material. Viewed from different angles, the sculpture reveals a carefully balanced relationship between its vertical upper body and broad, grounded seated posture.
Moving between abstraction and figuration, Auguste reflects Kallweit’s distinctive approach to human proportion and expression. The restrained treatment of facial features draws attention to posture and silhouette, allowing the figure’s presence to emerge through form rather than detail.
