HARNESS RACING – FRANCE | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Harness Racing – France is a black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing a horse and sulky driver crossing an expansive beach in France. The minimalist composition places the horse and driver within a vast, almost empty coastal landscape. The distant horizon, delicate reflections on the wet sand and softly graduated tones of the pale sky create an atmosphere of exceptional openness and tranquillity. The small silhouette of the horse and sulky provides a striking focal point, while the surrounding negative space emphasises the relationship between movement, scale and stillness.
Photographed in 2013, the work exemplifies Berghammer's minimalist approach to black-and-white photography. By reducing the coastal scene to its essential visual elements, the photograph transforms a fleeting moment of movement into a timeless study of solitude, atmosphere and the quiet beauty of the French coastline.
This original gelatin silver print on baryta paper, printed in 2017 and numbered 11425, is Edition 3/20. It has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation. Signed, numbered and dated, the photograph is housed in a handmade black wooden frame with a natural-white archival mount and anti-reflective glass offering 70% UV protection. Measuring 62 × 62 × 2.5 cm, the framed work is ready to hang and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Available through the SILVERFINEART Exhibited Art collection, it offers collectors the opportunity to acquire an original exhibited photograph by Gerald Berghammer in its existing framed condition.
