BERTA – FIGURATIVE BRONZE SCULPTURE | NANDO KALLWEIT
Berta (2020) is a serial unique figurative bronze sculpture by German artist Nando Kallweit. Measuring 17.5 × 9 × 8 cm, the sculpture depicts a seated female figure with one leg crossed over the other, her elongated arms resting gently across her knee. The angular shoulders, slender torso and geometric head create a distinctive silhouette, balancing abstraction with recognisable human form. The dark, textured bronze surface reveals subtle variations in tone, with highlights along the sculpted edges emphasising the figure's carefully reduced proportions.
Through its interplay of asymmetry, negative space and restrained gesture, Berta conveys a quiet sense of contemplation. Its compact dimensions and sculptural clarity make it a distinctive example of Kallweit's contemporary figurative bronze work.
