ELSKE – FIGURATIVE BRONZE SCULPTURE | NANDO KALLWEIT
Elske (2024) is a serial unique figurative bronze sculpture by German sculptor Nando Kallweit. Measuring 17 × 9 × 8.5 cm, the work depicts a seated female figure characterised by elongated proportions, angular shoulders and a distinctly abstract treatment of the human form. The composition is defined by an asymmetrical seated posture. One leg extends downwards while the other crosses the figure, with slender arms resting across the raised knee. The elongated neck and geometrically simplified head give the sculpture a distinctive silhouette, balancing stillness with a subtle suggestion of movement.
The dark, textured bronze surface reveals variations in tone and carefully articulated planes. Light catches the angular contours of the shoulders, torso and limbs, emphasising the relationship between solid form and surrounding space. Reduced facial features shift attention towards posture, proportion and the expressive qualities of the figure.
Elske reflects Kallweit’s sculptural approach, combining recognisable human gestures with contemporary abstraction. Its compact dimensions and carefully balanced composition give the work a presence that can be appreciated from multiple viewpoints.
