AWARD-WINNING BEACH STUDY 1 – SCOTLAND | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Award-Winning Beach Study 1 is a black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing the rugged coastal landscape of Scotland. The composition centres on dark rock formations emerging from the sea, their distinctive shapes contrasting with the smooth, almost ethereal surface of the water. Distant coastal cliffs and subtle atmospheric gradations create a sense of depth, while the interplay of solid geological forms, soft light and expansive negative space lends the scene a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. The long exposure transforms the movement of the sea into a delicate, luminous expanse, emphasising the enduring presence of the rocks.
Photographed in 2012, the work exemplifies Berghammer's minimalist approach to black-and-white long-exposure photography. By reducing the Scottish coastline to its essential elements of rock, water and light, the photograph creates a timeless study of natural forms, atmosphere and the relationship between movement and stillness.
This original print, Edition 1/9, has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation. Signed, numbered and dated, the photograph is housed in a handmade black wooden frame with a natural-white archival mount and anti-reflective glass offering 70% UV protection. Measuring 62 × 62 × 2.5 cm, the framed work is ready to hang and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Available through the SILVERFINEART Exhibited Art collection, it offers collectors the opportunity to acquire an original exhibited artwork in its existing framed condition.
