SEA STACK STUDY 2 – SCOTLAND | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Sea Stack Study 2 is a black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing a solitary rock formation rising from the sea along the rugged coastline of Scotland.

The composition centres on a dramatic sea stack emerging from calm, almost ethereal water, with smaller rocks in the foreground and a distant coastal headland providing a subtle sense of depth. The long-exposure technique transforms the movement of the sea into a smooth, luminous surface, while the rugged textures of the rock contrast with the soft tonal gradations of the sky. The carefully balanced composition, delicate reflections and generous negative space create an atmosphere of profound stillness and timeless simplicity.

Photographed in 2012, the work exemplifies Berghammer's minimalist approach to black-and-white landscape and seascape photography. This original gelatin silver print on baryta paper, printed in 2018 and numbered 1/9, has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation. Signed, numbered and dated, the photograph is housed in a handmade black wooden frame with a natural-white archival mount and anti-reflective glass offering 70% UV protection. Measuring 62 × 62 × 2.5 cm, the framed work is ready to hang and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
