PHRAGMITES STUDY 1 – HUNGARY | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Phragmites Study 1 is a black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing two isolated clusters of reeds emerging from still water in Hungary. The composition reveals the quiet beauty of this minimalist waterscape, where delicate natural forms and their reflections create a subtle interplay of symmetry, rhythm and negative space.Two asymmetrically arranged clusters of reeds dominate the composition, their slender stems and intricate reflections establishing a carefully balanced visual relationship. The sharply defined silhouettes contrast with the smooth, almost ethereal surface of the water, while subtle tonal transitions from luminous grey to deep charcoal gradually dissolve the surrounding landscape. This original gelatin silver print on baryta paper, Edition 1/9, has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation.
