FRIEDA – FIGURATIVE BRONZE SCULPTURE | NANDO KALLWEIT
Frieda (2020) is a contemporary figurative bronze sculpture by German sculptor Nando Kallweit, depicting a kneeling female figure with an elongated body, gently bowed head and angular, abstracted features. The sculpture measures 16 × 8 × 4 cm and is classified as a serial unique work, with individual variations distinguishing each piece within the series. The slender neck, sharply defined shoulders and sweeping contours create an elegant, expressive silhouette. The arms are drawn back alongside the body, while the bent legs form a contrasting horizontal element at the base. This interplay of vertical and horizontal forms gives the sculpture its distinctive sense of balance and quiet movement.
The dark bronze patina reveals subtle variations in tone and texture, with irregular, faceted surfaces catching the light and emphasising the sculptural character of the figure. Combining reduced anatomical detail with expressive proportions, Frieda reflects Kallweit’s contemporary interpretation of the human form.
Hand-signed by the artist, this compact bronze sculpture brings a refined figurative presence to contemporary interiors and private art collections.
