ANCIENT LAUREL CLOUD FOREST STUDY 2 – PORTUGAL | GERALD BERGHAMMER
Ancient Laurel Cloud Forest Study 2 is a minimalist black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing ancient laurel trees emerging from dense mist in Portugal. The composition reveals the quiet, atmospheric character of a cloud forest, where sculptural tree forms gradually dissolve into the surrounding fog.A dramatically curved laurel tree dominates the foreground, its dark trunk and spreading branches contrasting with the softer silhouette of a second tree in the distance. Subtle tonal transitions, atmospheric depth and carefully balanced negative space create a sense of stillness and mystery, transforming the ancient woodland into a timeless, contemplative photographic study.
Photographed in 2023 and printed in 2024 as an archival pigment ink print, the work reflects Berghammer's minimalist approach to landscape photography, emphasising natural forms, delicate tonal gradations and the evocative interplay of light and atmosphere.
This original print, Edition 1/7, has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation. Signed, numbered and dated, the photograph is housed in a matt-black aluminium frame with a natural-white archival mount and anti-reflective glass. Measuring 56.5 × 56.5 cm, the framed work is ready to hang. Available through the SILVERFINEART Exhibited Art collection, it offers collectors the opportunity to acquire an original exhibited artwork in its existing framed condition.
