Self Portrait Study 2 is an analogue black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing a solitary wooden pier extending into the calm waters of an Austrian lake. The composition reveals the quiet beauty of this minimalist lakeside landscape, where a faint human presence introduces a contemplative dimension to the scene.

A weathered wooden jetty dominates the composition, its strong central perspective leading towards a simple bench surrounded by smooth, luminous water. An almost transparent human figure, rendered through long-exposure photography, introduces a subtle sense of presence and transience. Dramatic clouds stretch across the expansive sky, while restrained monochrome tones, delicate tonal transitions and carefully balanced negative space create an atmosphere of stillness and quiet introspection.

Photographed in 2015 and printed in 2018 as a traditional gelatin silver print on baryta paper, the work reflects Berghammer's dedication to analogue photographic craftsmanship, precise tonal control and minimalist visual expression. Rather than presenting a conventional likeness, the photographer transforms his own figure into an ephemeral trace within the landscape, creating a contemplative self-portrait exploring identity, human presence and the passage of time.

This original print, Edition 3/20, has previously been exhibited and is offered as the existing physical artwork in its original presentation. Signed, numbered and dated, the photograph is housed in a dark-brown wooden frame with a natural-white archival mount and anti-reflective glass offering 70% UV protection.
