MISTY MORNING AT THE LAKE STUDY 1, AUSTRIA, EDITION 1/8 | Gerald Berghammer
Misty Morning at the Lake Study 1 is a black-and-white fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer, capturing a weathered wooden jetty extending into the still waters of a mist-covered lake in Austria. The composition centres on the strong perspective of the wooden pier, leading the eye towards a solitary bench at its far end. The symmetrical arrangement, delicate tonal gradations and expansive negative space create a carefully balanced image. The textured timber contrasts with the smooth, almost featureless water and sky, while the surrounding landscape gradually disappears into the mist.
Photographed in 2023, the work exemplifies Berghammer's minimalist approach to black-and-white long-exposure photography. By reducing the landscape to its essential elements of line, form and tone, the photograph conveys a profound sense of stillness, solitude and timeless simplicity.
This original archival pigment ink print, Edition 1/8, was produced in 2024 on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper and has previously been exhibited. Measuring 80 × 80 cm with a 4 cm white border, the existing physical print is signed, numbered and stamped on the reverse and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Presented as part of the SILVERFINEART Exhibited Art collection, it represents an original exhibited artwork in its existing condition.
